I recently discovered Mod Podge's "Dimensional Magic" and am totally obsessed with it. It's a resin that creates a hard, clear, shiny surface over anything you put it on. It's awesome! (no I'm not getting paid to say this either)
Here's what you need:
Bottle caps (if you don't drink bottled beverages, you can buy 'em at craft stores or amazon)
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (or similar product like Judikins Diamond Glaze or Sakura 3-D Crystal Laquer...but I think the Mod Podge works the best)
Stickers and/or small cut-out pictures and a glue stick
Magnets (I found some small ones that have sticky backs at Walmart)
Here's what you do:
1. Choose the images you want to appear in your magnets. If you're using magazine images, cut them out. Make sure they fit inside your bottle cap.
2. Stick the images inside the bottle cap with glue stick (or just stick them in if you're using stickers).
3. Place the bottle caps onto a paper plate or cookie sheet (so you can put them somewhere to dry later).
4. Fill each bottle cap with the Dimensional Magic. The stuff is very easy to work with, especially with the bottle caps - you basically just need to fill them up. The resin looks like skim milk when wet - don't worry, it dries clear.
