Water Beads
I found these fun polymer beads at Michaels today for just a few bucks (in the plant decorating section). They're designed to be placed in a vase to keep cut flowers watered longer, but they also serve as great sensory play.
Unfamiliar with the concept of "sensory play"? Read this fabulous article by Amanda Morgan.
I gave each of my kids a large mixing bowl with about a cup of the beads to have fun with.
My kids loved the feeling of running the beads over their hands and inspecting the various shapes and colors.
You can re-use them over and over, and when they start to dry out simply add more water!
It was very easy to put them away, I just placed a large funnel into the container and poured them back in.
