Make A Snowglobe

Everyone likes snowglobes at the holidays! Even more fun - make your own! My kids LOVED doing this! Please note, this takes 2-3 days to complete.

Here's what you need:
A jar with a lid
Silicone glue/adhesive (you can find this at the hardware store...and while you're at it, pick up some paint chips for gift tags)
Glycerine (I found this in the cake decorating section at Michael's)
Glitter
Something to put inside your snowglobe - I made one with an old ornament, and we also made made some snowmen out of Fimo/Sculpey polymer clay to put inside that worked really well too

Here's what you do:
1. Make your decoration if it's not pre-made

We made little polymer clay snowmen to put inside our snowglobes.

2. Glue decoration to the inside of the jar lid with silicone glue. Let dry for 12 hours or more. I recommend leaving your stuff outside to dry if you can. The glue is kind of stinky.

3. Fill jar with water. Add 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon glycerine (less for smaller jars, more for larger jars). This helps make the snow "float" to the bottom of the jar more gracefully.

4. Add about a tablespoon of glitter for your "snow".

5. Put a thick layer of silicone around the inner edge of the jar lid and place on jar.

6. Of course, shake it up and watch the snow fall a few times...then let it dry - lid side up - overnight.

Let your globe finish drying overnight this way.
