We all know that having kids means having a slightly messier house than you had before kids. Ok, if you're anything like me, it means having a WAY messier house. Without spending every spare ounce of energy and time following them around cleaning up after them, it's very hard to keep up. But you can't give up all hope, or you'll just go insane. A bit of organization amongst the chaos would be nice.
So of course the goal is to teach them how to pick up after themselves. The last few times I organized my kids' dresser drawers, only to have them in shambles again within days (or less), I realized I have GOT to find a way to help them put things back where they belong. My girls are almost-5 and almost-3 - so they understand the concept of putting clothes in their drawers, but they kept putting them in the WRONG drawers. It made it difficult and time-consuming to get dressed in the morning. SOOOO, I made labels with pictures of what articles of clothing go into which drawers.
Glory halleluia! Everything gets put back in the right spot now. Granted, it doesn't get folded, but we'll take things one step at a time.
excellent!!! And something so simple saves so much time later. I will be making labels immediately. val
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea...I'd say folding matters, but every time I open a drawer someone has obviously "rearranged" my folding anyway...this makes really good sense. And I think I can start a chore with both girls that I think they'll actually enjoy! Thanks, Shannon!
